Sean Heffernan Blog

Sean Heffernan was born in San Francisco on October 25, 2000. He grew up in Belmont and went to Serendipity School for Preschool and Kindergarten. However, after 4 years, he had to leave his friends and moved to San Mateo. There, he went to Baywood Elementary School, where he made more new friends. After 5 years of hard work, he graduated Elementary School and started Middle School. Sean is currently in 8th Grade and is attending Borel Middle School. There he made many more friends. If Sean hadn't moved, he would have probably gone to Ralston, which would have sucked.
Sean currently plays the violin, and also played the clarinet for a year. He started playing the violin when he was 5 years old, so he has been playing for about 8 years. His first teacher was Ms. Kakeuchi, from the Suzuki Music School. However, after a few problems with her family, she was unable to teach him. After that, Alona Tsoi, a member of the San Francisco Symphony, taught him. What inspired him to play the violin at first was his father. He used to always play guitar for fun, and Sean also wanted to learn to play the guitar. So, in order to play the guitar, he started playing the violin. Eventually, Sean completely forgot about this and is now playing violin as his regular instrument. Sean is currently playing in the Peninsula Youth Orchestra, the highest group in the Musical Organization known as PYO. He is also part of the Borel Chamber Orchestra, lead by Ms. Helene Grotans. One of the most significant experiences was going to San Jose, to play in the CMEA Honors Group. There, he met many more musicians that where very good and better than him. The best part of it all was that he was able to skip school for one day. Music is very important to Sean and even if he stops playing, it will stay with him forever.
Apart from music and school, Sean enjoys reading, playing video games, sports, eating , and sleeping. He also enjoys traveling. During his life, Sean has gone to many places in and out of the country such as London, New York, New Jersey, Tokyo, Paris, Philadelphia, and Tokyo. Sean also used to play baseball, soccer and basketball. After a while, he got tired of it and stopped playing. He now swims, and plays tennis. His greatest sport achievement by far was playing for the San Mateo team during the summer. Every 2 years, kids from San Mateo are picked to play for a team that either travels to Japan, or stays here. There, they play baseball with kids from San Mateo's Sister City, Toyonaka. This year, the Toyonaka kids came here and we played in Central Park. Even though we lost every game, it was still a very fun experience.
One person that inspires him is his father, because someday, he would also like to become a computer engineer.
